The Winning Player is Responsible for Announcing the Value of Their Hand (Article ID 72)

< All Topics

Abstract:  A winning player is responsible for announcing the value of their hand.  In the situation where the winning player forgets to include the value for a jokerless hand and another player points it out, the winning player is only paid what they initially declared.

Question from a player:  Must a player announce that she has a hand without jokers?

Answer from the NMJL  “Players must announce the value of their own hand.  A player’s score does not change if another player calls attention to the fact that the hand could be rearranged at a higher value.  The player is only entitled to the value they have announced.”
